Open letter to Andrew Miller! CC: Booker prize judges
Dear Andrew,
I’m not even mad at you for writing The land in winter. I understand, sometimes you just have to do certain things to get by and pay the bills, right? Please enjoy the money I spent on the paperback, kindle edition and audiobook to just so I could tackle the book and write a review. Consider this as an advance for your next novel, don’t rush it. take your time and make something good out of it this time.
I can now confidently confirm that this book is not worth reading (even though it was shortlisted for the Booker prize). To be fair one lovely woman in our book club tried, desperately, to romanticise your lack of plot and character. I wish you could’ve been there to appreciate the beauty of this pure forgiveness she had for your book.
I am, however, mad at the Booker prize judges, and I’d like to ask them, respectfully, DID YOU EVEN READ THIS BOOK? Pretty sure you didn’t! And please, don’t act like there was some hidden depth in there that “not everyone gets.” There wasn’t!
Do better, judges!
Best wishes to you, Andrew, and good luck with bills and expenses.
P
